With Coachella kicking in this past weekend, it marked the beginning of the season of summer festivals. Most of us go to the festivals for the music (at least I hope that is so!) but looking the part of a rock music aficionado should come naturally as well. Here are the top 10 fashionable things you need to not just survive, but soar in the crowd.

Hat
The second most important after SPF is a hat. Keep one on while you make your way from one show to the next. Pick straw ones so your hair can breathe and not be a sticky mess during the sundown performances.
Perforated top
While your hair breathes, so should your skin. Eyelet tops are all the rage now and it cannot come at a better time during this humid weather. Skip the padded bras and wear a bright lacey number if you’re feeling racy.
High low
High low skirts are everywhere now but that is not very practical for resting on a picnic mat while you wait for your next band to play. Instead, opt for a top with a fun pink dip dye for some feminine flair.
High waist shorts
What’s rock and roll music without a little bit of rock and roll on you? And no we’re not talking tattoos, but patch denim shorts. The idea here is the crazier and the more outrageous, the better so have your fun!
Sandals
You know it’s the time for music festivals when you look down and you see sandals on green pastures. Matching silver details with leather is cool, like we see in this Sam Edelman pair, but you don’t have to add the height if comfort is paramount.
Messenger bag
It may be tempting to lug a beach bag with you to store makeup for touch ups, an extra top just in case, but how can you surf the crowd with it? A small sized messenger will do just fine as long as you bring essentials only.
Scarf
Music festivals may be unpredictable but spring nights, not so much. Keep a knit scarf in your car in case it gets chilly or wear one during the day, just for the look of it.
Neon jewelry
Looking for the pop of color reminiscent of summer? Look no further. Just like those shredded shorts, have fun with these lovely pieces like this one form Juicy Couture. Sometimes, fashion knows no rules. This is one of those times.
Sunglasses
This is the only thing that should come between you and the music. Don’t pick a fancy one. Bring a pair of sunglasses that sits on your head comfortably when you don’t need them.
Water bottle
Trust us when we say that your water bottle would be and should be your main arm candy, no matter what festival it is you choose to attend. There’s no way you would forget to keep hydrated with a fun bottle like this one.
Are you going to any music festivals this year?
