As previously mentioned, the color yellow is making quite a comeback this spring. The beautiful (and brave!) Paula Patton shone in a Monique Lhuillier in vibrant yellow down the Golden Globes red carpet. And here, Kirsten Dunst wore one of this season’s biggest colors in menswear-inspired pieces.

Here are two ways to recreate Kirsten’s look – one literal, one inspirational. Which one is your favorite?
The literal
If you’re as in love with Kirsten’s yellow blazer as I am, congratulations! This is the same blazer she had on at the Rodarte event. Pair that with a crisp, silky white button-down, chic cropped pants and sparkly nude heels and you’ve got yourself a risk free, close replica of her outfit. Keeping accessories and makeup minimalistic may be a good idea but to add a dash of fun, try a soft red lipstick (we recommend this hot red lipstick from DuWop) or a jewel-tone clutch (like this one here)… or both!

The inspired
Art is all about interpretation and since fashion is art, being inspired is only just the beginning of the translation. I recommend changing the details of each garment but still keeping true to the silhoutte of the look. Swap the yellow blazer for a spring-appropriate floral jacket. A white shirt may be too sharp here so a romantic ivory top would be more fitting. The vibrancy of the yellow tailored pants keeps look fresh and modern!

What do you think of this color? Which of these looks would you wear?

In my opinion, this is one of the most dreadful looking/fitting ensembles I have ever seen. It boggles my mind that this is considered “stylish”. It might become 10% more acceptable if it were Betty White wearing it, but Kirsten Dunst? I love yellow and am glad it’s trendy for 2012, but i’d rather be caught dead than be caught looking like a half ripe/half rottin banana.
